Class Notes (Spring 2025-2026)

OUR NEWEST RECRUITS!

First and foremost: Congratulations to the Class of 2026! On Saturday, May 31, 2026, these 227 graduates proudly wore their deep-blue JIS robes as they received their diplomas and turned the tassels on their caps, marking this important milestone surrounded by the friends, family, and teachers who supported their High School journey. We're thrilled to welcome them all to the JIS Alumni Community and show them that the Dragon experience extends far beyond their student days.

We look forward to connecting with them, supporting their next chapters, and celebrating the impact they make wherever their paths may take them! 

We also want to extend a very special congratulations to the proud alumni whose own children crossed the graduation stage this year, including Nicholas Kim (Class of 1989), Eric Djojonegoro (2000) and Natalie Djojonegoro (2001), Cho Hoshin (1993), Khee Choo (1992), Su Il Yi (1997) and Hye Jung Jung (1996), Han Choo (1995), Rebecca The (1986), Bjorn Duys (1982) and Eustacia (Stacey) Rachmat (2001).

ON CAMPUS

Gerry Heyen (Class of 1980) recently returned to the Cilandak campus, revisiting a place that helped shape his global outlook.

Now retired and based in Auckland, Gerry went on to work in Australian immigration, where his early experiences at JIS and across Indonesia and Malaysia proved invaluable.

He counts himself lucky for growing up surrounded by different cultures, which gave him the natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life — something that stayed with him throughout his career.

After years away, Joshua Beech (Class of 2017) was back on campus for the first time since graduation.

A true Dragon Lifer whose JIS journey spanned Kindergarten to Grade 12, he returned to “reminisce on past experiences” and memories that have stayed with him to this day.

Joshua is now based in Melbourne, Australia, where he is working as a Customer Support Analyst.

Going back to where her Dragon journey began, Thea Jul Pfeiffer (Class of 2024) visited our Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE) campus to rewalk the hallways and spaces that shaped her childhood memories from Grades 4-6.

She brought along her friend Frederikke to share a glimpse of her JIS experience.

DRAGONS IN THE WILD

Our Houston-area alumni gathered at Brazos Bend State Park for a day of shared food, nature walks, and great conversation — complete with beautiful scenery and a few alligators along the way.

A special shoutout to Pam Enriquez (third right, Class of 1974), who is wearing her JIS hoodie as one of our monthly winners! With her are Roy Tan (1980), Hans Berg (1980), Deana Cotton Turner (1978), Jackson Moydell (1979), and Engeline Tan (1979).

Dragons spotted in Chicago! Class of 2008 Alumni Han Sang Kim (right) and Ivan Halim celebrated decades of friendship as they reconnected in the Windy City, where Han Sang currently lives and Ivan was attending the American Dental Association Annual Session.

No matter how far Dragons roam, it’s always inspiring to see those JIS roots bring them back together!

HOODIE WINNERS

Our JIS hoodie made it all the way to Alaska! Class of 1998 Alumna Mary (Meeks) Knight is showing off her brand-new Dragon merch from her home in one of the last holdouts of winter, located just 80 miles from the Arctic Circle, where she trains and runs a team of sled dogs.

She sends warm wishes to fellow alumni from around the world, especially the Class of 1998, as well as current students, teachers, and staff in Jakarta.

Our JIS hoodie has arrived in Australia, thanks to winner Cia Hong (Class of 2025)!

Here she is showing off her new JIS swag at the University of Melbourne, where she is currently majoring in biotechnology. She sends all her love to her fellow Class of 2025 Dragons and alumni across the globe!
