Dear Fellow Alumni,
As 2025 draws to a close and our first semester at JIS comes to an energized finish, I find myself reflecting with gratitude and pride. These past months have been alive with spirited learning, joyful reconnections, and meaningful moments that remind us of the strength and heart of our community.
It’s in this spirit that we share our newest issue of Dragon News — a celebration of all we’ve accomplished together and a heartfelt reminder of the enduring bond that connects Dragons across the world.
Just last month, I had the honor of connecting with fellow Dragon Alumni at an official reunion held in Hong Kong. It was an event that brought together generations of alumni and sparked conversations about shared times, familiar faces, and the classmates and friends who shaped our journeys. Over a delicious Indonesian meal that evoked a sense of home, we exchanged stories from our days as JIS students — some filled with laughter, others touched with quiet nostalgia, but all carrying deep fondness and gratitude. You’ll find snapshots of the event in this edition of Dragon News, in addition to information about upcoming reunions in Seattle, Chicago, Jakarta, Edinburgh, and, of course, our big 75th Birthday Bash in Bali. There’s truly so much to look forward to as Dragons!
We also revisit the story behind Feedback, the beloved student magazine many of you helped shape and remember with fondness, and once again shine a light on alumni accomplishments across the globe. I hope you enjoy this latest collection of Dragon News stories and see them — as I always do — as a reflection of our remarkable community, shaped by our love of JIS and the Naga Spirit.
Wherever you are in the world, please know you remain an essential part of the JIS story.
Warm regards,
Maya Nelson
