Home of the Dragons (Spring 2025-2026)

Throughout the final quarter of the 2025-2026 academic year, Dragons across divisions found countless ways to challenge themselves, support one another, and celebrate success. Here are some highlights from a memorable Spring 2026 filled with learning, creativity, competition, service, and a lot of Naga Spirit!

JIS Elementary School students participated in FIRST LEGO League competitions, demonstrating creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving with each other and students from across Jakarta schools. 

JIS also played host to IASAS Speech and Debate, where our High School delegates impressed audiences with their intellect and poise as they debated complex issues and delivered a wide range of speeches with confidence.

At our neighboring IASAS partner schools, our students represented us with distinction in Drama, Dance, Music, and Tech.

Our Middle School mathematicians made their own equally impressive mark in the annual Mathcounts competition in Beijing. They represented JIS with dedication and perseverance to earn the third-best school overall! In the small team challenge, they placed fifth out of 19 teams, with one student receiving top test scores from all 84 participants going into the final speed round, and another competing in the speed round to earn first place. 

The final Naga Night of this academic year was a remarkable display of community support — something our student-athletes carried with them at IASAS Season 3 championships. Whether competing here at home or representing JIS in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, they brought their very best to each event! 

JIS Baseball and Boys Golf teams brought back bronze medals, while our Track and Field athletes celebrated strong overall performances after earning 18 medals (five gold, five silver, and eight bronze), including a new IASAS record and a new long-standing school record.

Our Boys Badminton team placed sixth, while our Girls Badminton players finished fourth. Playing with great determination, our Girls Track and Field, Golf, and Softball teams all finished in fifth place. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches involved — know that we’re all immensely proud of you!

This year’s thrilling LEAD Week experiences saw Grade 9 students travel to Bintan, while Grade 10 students explored a wide range of destinations, including Bali, Komodo, Borneo, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia.

Closer to home, our Juniors remained in Jakarta, partnering with local organizations to design and engage in service-based activities. Some of our students engaged in a week of artistic expression, painting beautiful murals in our JIS Learning Center – a time spent with a visiting artist, creating beauty on our walls.

Pattimura Elementary (PEL), meanwhile, gave us a vibrant rendition of Peter Pan Jr. Both productions were an unforgettable showcase of talent, dedication, and teamwork!

At an international school conference in Bangkok, our school was recognized with three ASEAN Awards, hosted by 21st Century Learning in conjunction with peer schools across the Asia region. We were honored to receive recognition for Best Early Learning Center, Best Innovative Teaching and Learning Award, and the Public Choice Award.

While awards are only one lens through which schools can be viewed, and certainly do not define the full heart and purpose of a school, it is nonetheless meaningful to have the work of our faculty, staff, and community acknowledged by our peers.

The spirit of connection and collaboration sparked excitement as JIS Middle School hosted Baseball/Softball and Touch Rugby Exchanges. We welcomed student-athletes from the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) and International School Manila (ISM) for three days of friendly competition and camaraderie that were felt both on and off the field. 

Our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026! It was with great pride and bittersweet emotion that we celebrated the graduation of our Seniors on Saturday, May 31, at the Cilandak campus.

The commencement ceremony marked an important turning point not only for our 227 graduates, but also for their families, faculty, staff, and friends who supported them throughout their JIS experience. Let’s remind them that, wherever their journeys may take them, they will always find a home with us.

Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!
