Home of the Dragons — Fall 2025-2026

The semester at JIS continues with a melange of engaging events that define the unique Dragon experience.

From standout athletic performances to cherished traditions, here are some of the highlights that made the past few months at JIS truly memorable for the entire community.

JIS Aquatics proudly welcomed 160 participants from seven schools for the annual Dragons Classic. Our JIS swimmers delivered outstanding performances, breaking 12 school records, an unprecedented achievement for a single meet.

Among these was a record dating back to 2004. In total, six swimmers set new records, while many others earned medals and achieved personal best times.

To top it off, the JIS Dragons were crowned the overall champions of the meet!

Following a rousing Naga Night, IASAS Season 1 championships gave us not one but three well-deserved medals! Our Boys’ Volleyball team brought home the gold — our first in the sport since 1996.

We also earned silver in Boys Soccer and bronze in Cross Country. All our athletes, whether competing in Jakarta for IASAS Cross Country and Volleyball or in Manila for Soccer, demonstrated remarkable talent, perseverance, and commitment.

What are your memories of IASAS? Did you compete in championships or host a visiting athlete? If you have memories and accompanying photos you'd like to share, send them to us at alumni@jisedu.or.id.

Twenty Elementary School students participated in the JIS Academy Chess Tournament, competing against their peers from schools across Jakarta in five rounds of matches using a Swiss system.

They all gave it their very best, with three amazing winners from JIS earning third, second, and first place!

Competing at The Hague Model United Nations (THIMUN) in Singapore, JIS delegates earned several special awards for excellence, including Most Diplomatic in the ASEAN and Commission on the Status of Women categories, Best Speaker and Best Advocate in the International Court of Justice debates, and Best Speaker in the Security Council and World Trade Organization categories.

These accolades reflect not only the commitment and talent of our students but also the outstanding guidance and mentorship of their coaches, Ms. Abby Wilson and  Mr. Charles Tetreault!

We were thrilled to host the 21st Century Learning Conference on AI and the Future of Education. We had over 200 educators from around the world attend this conference, which was a collaborative effort with 21st Century Learning.

We were proud that some of our faculty presented, and of course, many attended. It was a deeply insightful event that provoked thinking and engagement.

Educators explored the nascent ways AI can help us better support students, encourage well-rounded growth, and broaden opportunities for innovation in the classroom.

We were absolutely mesmerized by the High School production of A Monster Calls!

The deeply talented cast and crew gave us an unforgettable theatrical experience filled with emotion, talent, and the power of storytelling.

What they delivered on the Fine Arts Theater (FAT) stage across three stellar performances will linger in audiences’ hearts and minds as a high standard for artistic achievement — both student-led and professional. Bravo!

Did you star in a High School musical or play? Tell us all about the experience and send photos to alumni@jisedu.or.id!

The Middle School, meanwhile, celebrated the rousing success of their musical production of Matilda Jr.

The skilled performers and supporting behind-the-scenes crew delivered four sensational performances filled with energy, humor, and a lot of heart, bringing this much-loved story to life with aplomb!

Bravo and congratulations to everyone involved — from the student cast and crew to the supporting faculty and parents.

Uniting Nations (UN) Day once again brought students, teachers, staff, and parents together across all divisions to honor the rich cultural diversity that defines our community.

A core JIS memory for generations of Dragons, this beloved tradition returned in full spirit — a vibrant celebration of international heritage, shared pride, and the connections that make our school so special.
