The uplifting sound of student chatter has returned to our hallways, classrooms are once again alive with the excitement of learning, and our playgrounds echo with the joyful laughter of children — the start of the 2025-2026 academic year at JIS has given us so many reasons to smile!

We welcomed the arrival of 303 new families, 35 faculty members, and three administrators who joined us from across the world, including Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE) Principal Zeb Johnson, JIS Academy Coordinator Sharlene Carki, and Head of Information Technology (IT) Christian Wijaya.

It feels especially meaningful that we begin each school year with celebrations honoring our host country. Students wore batik or red and white as they took part in flag-raising ceremonies and various Indonesian Independence Day festivities to mark this important day. What a joyful way to kick start 2025-2026!

The annual PTA Welcome Back Dragons barbecue was another great success, bringing our community together for a relaxing afternoon with good food and even better company. A highly anticipated tradition, the event reflects just how much we value community and connection here at JIS.

On September 1, we celebrated JIS’s 74th birthday! This year’s anniversary is especially meaningful as we simultaneously mark a significant milestone for Pattimura Elementary (PEL), which started the academic year with beautifully enhanced classrooms and facilities — ready to serve future generations of Dragons for many more decades to come.

We hope you might come and visit the stunning new campus!
