Congratulations to cinematographer and Class of 1999 Dragon Patrick Tashadian on the release of his latest movie Abadi Nan Jaya(The Elixir)! This fast-paced horror flick is the first Indonesian zombie film to get an international Netflix release — a proud milestone celebrated across the country. As the local film industry's go-to cinematographer for all things spooky, Patrick has a long list of favorites to his name, including The Queen of Black Magic, Ivanna, Dancing Village: The Curse Begins, and V/H/S 94 to name just a few. Head to Netflix to support his latest endeavor, and read more about Patrick's foray into horror cinematography here.
Randolph & Bob Oudemans, Engeline Tan, Roy Tan, Angela Delamar
This heartwarming reunion was nearly five decades in the making! Randolph Oudemans (Class of 1980), Bob Oudemans (1979), Engeline Tan (1979), Roy Tan (1980), and Angela Delamar (1980) returned to JIS for a highly anticipated wander around the Cilandak campus and to reconnect with Head of School Maya Nelson (1977) — whose sister was Angela’s best friend in Middle School.
Later that evening, they caught up with fellow alum Dino Vega (1980) for a Dragon dinner filled with laughter and shared memories.
Jennifer Klaui
More than five decades have passed since Jennifer Klaui (Class of 1973) last walked the halls of Pattimura Elementary, but she still remembers with vivid fondness the educators who shaped her early childhood from Grades 1-5 in the 1960s, such as Ibu Tiksnomurti (the first PEL Principal), as well as Ms. Walking, Ms. Shawn, and Mr. Morehead.
Jennifer recently celebrated her retirement from teaching and now lives in the Netherlands.
Sara Ahmed
Returning to JIS as part of the Class of 1995 Reunion, Sara Ahmed was thrilled to be back on campus for the first time since graduation. Not only did she have the chance to catch up with former classmates, but she also revisited various learning and hang-out spaces that shaped her formative years.
Sara was here visiting from Seattle, where she currently works as an emergency room doctor.
Katrina Warren
While visiting Jakarta to spend time with her parents, including her father, Joe Warren, Class of 1979, Katrina Warren (Class of 2010) took the opportunity to tour both the Cilandak campus and Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE). She was struck by how much each campus has grown and evolved, yet still carries the unmistakable JIS spirit that defined her own Dragon experience.
Katrina now lives in San Diego.
Chuck Barrett, Kyle Frascarelli, and Tareque Farruk (Class of 1987) reconnected for more than just a casual meet-up: The trio got together to start planning a Dragon-organized Alumni event in San Antonio, Texas, on February 27-28, 2026!
If you’re in the area, make sure to clear your calendars for a jam-packed weekend of fun and connection! Find all the details here — remember to sign up to let them know you're coming.
Representing Dragons from the 1980s and 1990s, Cherie (Class of 1985, left), Train (Class of 1998, second left), Cathrene (Class of 1985, fourth left), Evangeline (Class 1985, center), Shannon (Class of 1982, third right), and Paul (Class of 1995, right) met up in Seattle to help us organize the upcoming JIS Seattle Reunion.
In between planning and brainstorming for what's sure to be a fantastic event, they bonded over their shared JIS experience and swapped stories of their fondest Naga memories. Their significant others were also happy to be part of their meet-up!
Jennifer Klaui's “emotional, happy” return to Pattimura Elementary (PEL) transported her back to Grades 1-5, inspiring her to dig up long-treasured keepsakes of her time in Jakarta from 1962-1969 — including this wonderful photo of her in a school performance! She's the adorable little girl second from the right, with her sister Rebecca standing next to the boy beside her.
