Ivan Halim (Class of 2008) is proud to describe Halim Dental Clinic as more than just a center for dental care; it’s a family tradition that spans generations.

Founded in the early 1990s by his father, Dr. Himawan Halim, and originally known as Himawan Halim Dental Clinic, its main office is strategically located in the heart of Jakarta, just minutes from the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, tucked behind the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the German Embassy.

Today, the clinic is proudly run by second- and third-generation dentists who were trained in the United States and equipped with cutting-edge dental technology. Ivan joined the family business in 2020 — just as the pandemic was tightening its grip on the world — to carry forward his family’s remarkable legacy.

For him, dentistry is truly in his blood. His grandparents were both dentists, with his grandfather, Dr. Liem, playing a pivotal role in founding the Indonesian Naval Dental Institute. Dr. Liem’s collaboration with the United States Navy and his 22-year leadership as head of the institute — earning him prestigious awards, including recognition from the president of Indonesia — set a high bar for excellence that the Halim family continues to honor.

Halim Dental Clinic offers comprehensive dental care designed to transform smiles and maintain oral health, all delivered with the latest innovations and state-of-the-art equipment sourced from Germany, Denmark, the US, Switzerland, and Japan. But it’s not just about technology; comfort and personalized care are at the heart of everything the Halim doctors do.

In 2024, the Halim family expanded their mission by opening a satellite clinic right next to the Cilandak campus and Pondok Indah Elementary (PIE) in South Jakarta. This new location is perfectly positioned to offer easy access to dental care for JIS families and students. Designed with a calming view of the swimming pool, the clinic also uses advanced equipment to help reduce dental anxiety, making every visit as stress-free as possible.

Reflecting on his time at JIS, Ivan shares, “JIS helped me build critical thinking skills and the confidence to communicate clearly. It challenged me to stay open-minded and keep growing as a person.”

Opening a clinic near JIS is Ivan's way of giving back to the school community that supported his journey, ensuring that quality dental care is always within reach.
